This is how you shall do US

This is how to send kittens within the United States

Look at the pictures first to make sure it is the defect of this topic. There are variants to the example in the pictures, but you should not send kittens with only umbilical hernias and/or cleft palates.

Take pictures

Weigh the kitten

Check for gender if possible

Put the kitten/kittens in the freezer

To send the frozen kitten to research:

Put the kitten in triple ordinary plastic bags "ziplock" with coldkeeping material, such as one of the freezing block that you usually put in your cool bag.

Wrap some absorbent material (papertowels etc) around it.

Put this in a padded envelope.

Place a copy of "Study Form" that you have completed.

Take copies of the parents pedigrees and place in the envelope, Put all the paperwork in a ziplock bag.

All is confidential and the information about pedigrees will only be used by Dr Casal

If possible, send DNA-test from any of the parents, if you aren't able to take the test and send it with the kitten(s), you can send it later. Buccal swabs are enough.

Send all to:

Margret Casal, Dr med vet, PhD, DECAR

Section of Medical Genetics/Room 4018

University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine

3850 Spruce Street

Philadelphia, PA 191046010

The best day to send is on a monday.

Send it with express mail, (not economy) This way it reach Dr Casal the fastest way.

If the postoffice wants to know what it is, don't tell them it's a kitten. Tell them that it's tissues
